Music, Machine Learning, Interactive Systems

I am currently a scientist at Pandora working on methods and tools for Music Information Retrieval at scale. I received my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University. My research interests span a wide scope of topics including audio signal processing, machine learning, and human computer interaction. I am also an avid percussionist and composer, having performed in and composed for various ensembles large and small. I’ve also studied floral design and making wheel thrown ceramics.

FLORAL

The world of science and music is quite abstract, and recently I’ve been working in contrast to that, trying to be creative in the physical world. My main outlet for this is floral design, creating physical art and sculpture with living materials. My Great-grandparents and Grandparents through my mother’s childhood had a floral design and growing business. They've since stoped their business when I was young, but the inspiration and stories run deep. I picked it up, took formal classes, and started to run with it.

I gravitate towards Western line/mass design with strong European design influence in techniques and mechanics. I enjoy experimenting with contrasting colors and/or textures. Furthermore, I try not to incorporate non-natural products/shapes (ribbon bows, beads, etc). However, when I use that aesthetic, I’ll use natural substitutes or integrate the un-natural material in a nature-inspired way. Some examples are below.
